This AO Trauma Course aims at certified, practicing orthopedic and trauma surgeons who have participated in the AO
Trauma Basic and Advanced Principles Courses and who wish to broaden their knowledge and skills in hand and wrist surgery.
At the end of this course, participants should be able to:
• Define treatment strategies for articular distal radius fractures
• Execute appropriate patient selection for operative treatment in elderly patients
• Identify potential complications in the treatment of distal radius fractures and define strategies to avoid them
• Define procedures for treatment of carpal as well as metacarpal and phalangeal injuries
• Identify potential complications in the treatment of injuries of the hand and define strategies to avoid them
• Recognize complications and execute surgical procedures for salvage
